  • Quatsino

Quatsino is just a quick water-taxi ride away from Coal Harbour. First settled in the late 1800s, Quatsino is one of Vancouver Island North’s earliest communities. St. Olaf’s Anglican Church, which was built in 1896 as a one-room schoolhouse and then converted to a church that is still used for special occasions and weddings, is an interesting historic site, along with the old graveyard. Nature lovers and eagle watchers can enjoy the 654 hectares of undeveloped, protected parkland in Quatsino Provincial Park.
  • Port Alice

The Village of Port Alice is a picturesque community built on a mountainside affording excellent views of Neroutsos Inlet from every vantage point. It is accessed via a short, scenic drive on a newly paved section of highway (Hwy 30). The community is a gateway to the wild west coast where visitors can explore further via logging road or boat to areas like Side Bay, Gooding Cove, Harvey Cove, Brooks Peninsula and Klaskino Inlet. It is also known as the Sea Otter Capital of Canada!
  • God's Pocket Marine Provincial Park

God’s Pocket Marine Provincial Park provides some of the best underwater scuba diving on the Pacific Coast. Most diving takes place in nearby Browning Pass, an area rated by the late underwater explorer Jacques Cousteau as one of the best cold water diving destinations in the world. Conditions can be difficult however, so all divers should be experienced and well-equipped.
